Trouble in Tahiti/Il Ballo/Il Combattimento
Bernstein/Monteverdi
Featuring: The Portland Opera Studio Artists
Conductor: Robert Ainsley
Leonard Bernstein whisks us back to the 1950s for a lively look at marriage. Amid a seemingly idyllic suburban backdrop, this marriage has had both ups and downs. And there is much to learn—and feel—as these two people try to find their way. Like his West Side Story and Candide, Bernstein speaks straight to our hearts in this one-act masterpiece, with music that is lively, jazzy, and uniquely American.
